For Search Managers

SARAA operates within the established Mountain Rescue call-out framework. Requests for drone support can be made through SARCALL; an on-call handler coordinates the deployment details.

Once activated, SARAA pilots liaise with the Search Manager, incident commander, or officer in charge to define search areas, no-fly zones, data requirements, and mission parameters before flights begin.

How to get help

In an emergency, always call 999 first. Police will coordinate with Scottish Mountain Rescue and task SARAA-Scotland if drone support is needed. Please do not contact SARAA directly for emergency callouts.
